It’s Sunday. Sunday to me means taking things at a slower pace and getting odds and ends done around the house, preparing for the week ahead. It also means Sunday breakfast.
My current favourite Sunday breakfast is Mochi with Agave Syrup and sesame seeds (a good alternative to pancakes…. and less messier too!). This was one of the things I bought at my oriental store the other week,
Mochi is basically rice that has been pound up into a block. They use it in many Asian countries. When I lived in Japan, we usually used to put it in stews etc, but when I read The Kind Life by Alicia Silverstone, I saw that she fried it up and put syrup on it, and OMG it is YUMMO!
When it is fried up, mocha is gooey and chewy, but crunchy on the outside. You basically fry it in a little oil on each side, and you can tell when the consistency changes.
I eat it with agave syrup and sesame seeds.
Definitely a Sunday treat, but so yummy.
